What is a custom theme?
A theme controls the website's design and layout. I build it around the agreed content structure and visual design, so your business offer shapes the pages and the sections available to you.
The editor includes what you need for everyday work: text, images, buttons and ready-made sections. I set up the typography, spacing and mobile layouts in advance.
What will editing content look like?
The same content can be managed in two different ways. The examples below show Gutenberg and ACF Flexible Content separately.
Gutenberg: edit in a visual layout
In Gutenberg, I prepare blocks that reflect the sections on the website. You type directly into that layout, seeing the typography, heading size and how the text relates to the rest of the content. You do not need to open a separate preview after every text change.
This makes it easier to judge whether a heading is too long and how the content fits the section. I prepare the available blocks and settings for your project. Before publishing, it is still worth checking the actual website, especially on mobile and where interactive elements are involved.

Click the heading or description above. You edit them in the section layout, rather than a separate form.
ACF Flexible Content: fields without a layout preview
In ACF Flexible Content, you work with a list of sections and labelled fields such as Heading, Description and Image. In this setup, the admin editor does not show the website design: you do not see the final typography, spacing or layout. You fill in a form, and the theme turns those field values into a finished section.
To check the result, you open a separate front-end preview: the website as a visitor would see it. After further changes, you check the preview again. The workflow is structured, but reviewing the design means moving from the admin editor to the website. The example below demonstrates that difference.

Here you fill in fields. Open a separate preview to see the website's front end. This admin view does not show the page design.
Why limit the design settings?
Someone updating an offer should not have to adjust column widths or fix mobile spacing each time. That is why I prepare sections with clear design rules.
In my builds, I use blocks and fields instead of a general-purpose page builder such as Elementor. You can combine prepared elements while keeping the website consistent. We agree on the editing freedom before work starts.
What can you change yourself?
We agree on the editable content before development. A team that regularly builds campaign pages needs more flexibility than someone who occasionally updates an offer. Typically, you can manage:
- Text, images, buttons and the order of prepared sections.
- Services, case studies, team members and posts.
- Page titles and descriptions for search engines.
- New pages made from the prepared set of sections.
What do you receive at handover?
Before launch, I check the key pages, forms, event tracking and behaviour across screen sizes. I also verify that the editor supports the tasks we agreed on.
You receive access and editing instructions. We also agree on responsibility for updates, backups and future changes. I can handle these through an ongoing care arrangement.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can we edit the website without Elementor?
Yes. You use Gutenberg or ACF fields prepared for your website. Your team works with ready-made components and does not need to write code.
Is Gutenberg always more expensive than Flexible Content?
No. Cost depends on the number of sections, how they behave and how much of the design is reflected in the editor. The choice of Gutenberg or ACF alone does not determine the price. We compare the setup cost with the convenience of everyday editing.
Can we add new types of sections later?
Yes. Creating a new type of section is a separate development task. Once it is ready, you can reuse it on other pages within the agreed scope.
